Alec Baldwin Is Still Slamming Kim Basinger

Sunday 31 August 2008 @ 12:56 pm

ALEC Baldwin has been divorced from Oscar-winner Kim Basinger for six years now, but the “30 Rock” star still bristles on the subject of his blond ex-wife.

“Think I’m walking stiffly?” he asks journalist Ian Parker in this week’s New Yorker. “Yeah, there’s a 120-pound actress on my back.”

Baldwin accuses Basinger of trying to destroy his relationship with their daughter, Ireland, 12, with whom they share joint custody after a bitter battle. “Parental alienation is about people who narcissistically project their whole reality onto a child: ‘I don’t need you, so the child doesn’t need you,’ ” he says. “The goal of the alienating parent is to kill contiguous time. People need reliability. They need regularity. And I’ve been the victim of a campaign to kill all that. You wind up being more an uncle than a father.”

Baldwin says that after he and Basinger separated, she inexplicably feared for her life. As they looked for a house for him to rent and toured one on a sheer cliff, “[I said,] ‘You’ve got to come over here and look at this!’ She said, ‘No, no, come back, we’ve got to go. We’re late.’ And then I thought, ‘She thinks I’m going to throw her off this cliff!’ ” Basinger refused to be interviewed.

Baldwin, 50, says he’s “entering that Clinton phase” where young women tell him, “In spite of the fact that you don’t look like a young leading man anymore, I’d quite like to throw you down on this blanket right now.”

The New Yorker also reveals Baldwin once wrote a screenplay for himself and his brothers, Daniel, Billy and Stephen. Billy, star of “Dirty Sexy Money,” recalls: “Basically it was: Daniel’s the outlaw; I’m the riverboat gambler who gets all the [bleep], the shallow good-looking sap; Stephen’s the village idiot; and he’s the [bleep]ing hero! He’s the one who saves the day at the end, he’s the Clint Eastwood . . . That’s the movie he wanted to make about his brothers.”

Sopranos Star James Gandolfini Gets Married

Sunday 31 August 2008 @ 12:50 pm

James Gandolfini and fiancée Deborah Lin tied the knot Saturday in her hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii, a wedding guest confirms to PEOPLE.

“There was a nice big kiss at the end with both hands on the cheeks” as The Sopranos star and Lin officially became husband and wife, the guest tells PEOPLE. “They looked great.”

As a group of their closest friends and family looked on, Gandolfini, 46, and Lin, a former model, 40, exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony surrounded by white lilies and rhododendrons adorning every pew held at Central Union Church.

According to the guest, Lin strolled down the aisle in a white gown made of Italian lace while her tuxedoed groom stood waiting as a harpist played the “Hawaiian Wedding Song” in the background.

Gandolfini’s son Michael, 8, from his first marriage to Marcy Wudarsk (which ended in 2002), served as best man.

Following the elegant 20-minute nuptials, the newlyweds stepped into a white stretch limousine bound for the evening reception at a nearby resort.

The couple made their first public appearance on the red carpet in March 2007 for the New York City premiere of the second half of the final season of The Sopranos and have been engaged since late 2007.

Johnston & Murphy Gives David Duchovny The Boot

Saturday 30 August 2008 @ 7:06 pm

IT didn’t take long for the suits at Johnston & Murphy to react after David Duchovny checked himself into rehab for sex addiction. Yesterday morning, a poster of the fashion retailer’s newest endorser was abruptly yanked from the Johnston & Murphy store window on Madison Avenue and 54th. In July, the company hired Duchovny, who plays a sex-obsessed writer in “Californication,” to appear in ads breaking this month nationwide. A spokesman for the Nashville, Tenn.-based company said at the time, “We are thrilled. David embodies success and confidence, along with a great sense of style, communicating the ideal image for the Johnston & Murphy brand.” But when a customer asked what had happened to Duchovny’s picture, a clerk confessed, “We got the call from corporate this morning to take him down.”

Is Halle Berry planning a third trip down the aisle?

Saturday 30 August 2008 @ 7:00 pm

Berry - whose marriages to baseball legend David Justice and musician Eric Benet were so bad she said she’d never wed again - has been sporting a huge diamond engagement band on her left ring finger. Berry has been dating model Gabriel Aubry for several years and just gave birth to their daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, earlier this year. Berry’s rep didn’t return e-mails.

Kathie Lee Gifford Pokes Fun At The Chinese

Saturday 30 August 2008 @ 6:57 pm

KATHIE Lee Gifford’s cheesy Chinese imitation on the “Today” show this week is under fire. “It’s difficult to believe in this day and age . . . [she] chose to relate on national television an ‘amusing’ anecdote about Al Roker sending birthday greetings to her in a mock ‘Chinese’ accent,” the Asian American Journalists Association fumed in a letter to NBC brass demanding an apology. “If that weren’t bad enough, Gifford decided to spice up her performance by squinting her eyes into slits . . . All that were missing were the buck teeth and Coke-bottle glasses.” Gifford’s rep didn’t get back to us.

Johnny Depp Rocks Out for a Good Cause

Saturday 30 August 2008 @ 6:53 pm

Johnny Depp went back to one of his first loves – playing the guitar – at a benefit concert in Pompano Beach, Fla., Friday night.

The Oscar nominee played a 90-minute set with his bandmates from The Kids, a power-pop group formed in 1978 when Depp was a South Florida high schooler, at the 2,800-seat Club Cinema.

And Depp had two of his biggest fans in the audience watching him: girlfriend Vanessa Paradis and their 9-year-old daughter Lily-Rose, who sat together in the venue’s box seats as Depp smiled up at them from the stage (son Jack, 6, was not at the show).

Last year, Depp reunited with his band for a similar gig, held in honor of the band’s late manager, Sheila Witkin, with proceeds donated to the Dan Marino Foundation. The former Miami Dolphin football player’s charity funds programs for children with special needs – including the Marino Autism Research Institute. Marino’s 17-year-old son Michael has autism.

Earlier in the day, the actor – who arrived in South Florida with his family on Thursday to give him some time to rehearse – posed for photos with Marino and his bandmates.

Onstage at Club Cinema, Depp – who dressed down in a blue T-shirt with holes, torn jeans and a flannel shirt tied around his waist – blended in with his fellow band members, playing lead electric guitar and singing background vocals on some of the band’s original tunes, as well as covers of classics like The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby.”

Lily-Rose cheered on her dad during the performance, and the proud daughter even snapped some photos of him with a disposable camera.
