Scarlett Johansson to Cheer on Ryan Reynolds at N.Y. Marathon

Friday 31 October 2008 @ 8:34 pm

Ryan Reynolds is planning to run the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday – against his better judgment.

“I would sooner be prime minister of the moon than run another marathon,” the actor said in New York on Friday. “I’ve been really lucky. I didn’t have any toenails fall off or anything disgusting like that. I still have all three nipples.”

The actor said his new wife, actress Scarlett Johansson, has been giving him a lot of love and support, and would be there Sunday. “She’ll be on the road somewhere,” he says. “She better be.”

Reynolds started training for the event five months ago because he “is not a born runner.”

He announced in September he would run on behalf of the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Reynolds credits his father, Jim Reynolds, “who’s spent the last 15 years in a life or death struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.” With his dad as inspiration, Reynolds joined Team Fox and has already raised $80,011.08 for the Foundation’s mission to cure Parkinson’s.

Country singer Mindy McCready released from jail

Friday 31 October 2008 @ 8:32 pm

Mindy McCready has been released from jail after serving about 30 days for violating probation on a 2004 drug charge. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Department says the country singer was released Friday morning. She only had to serve about half of her 60-day sentence because of credits she received for good behavior and doing janitorial work in the jail.

The 32-year-old singer was accused in June of falsifying her community service records and charged with violating her probation.

McCready received a suspended three-year sentence in 2004 for fraudulently obtaining prescription painkillers.

McCain set for ‘Saturday Night Live’ cameo

Friday 31 October 2008 @ 8:28 pm

My friends, it’s John McCain, live from New York, just three days before the election. Aides to the Republican presidential candidate said Friday that McCain will make a detour from battleground states to appear on “Saturday Night Live,” the late-night show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season.

Hosting the show this Saturday is actor Ben Affleck, a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. The musical guest is singer David Cook.

When McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, appeared on the show Oct. 18, “Saturday Night Live” earned its best ratings in 14 years. Former star and head writer Tina Fey, a Palin lookalike, has been at the center of the show’s recent parodies of the campaign.

“SNL” regular Darrell Hammond impersonates McCain on the late-night show, now in its 34th season.

McCain last appeared on “Saturday Night Live” in May, after clinching the nomination and while the Democratic primary continued. The 72-year-old Arizona senator joked about his age, saying: “I ask you, what should we be looking for in our next president? Certainly, someone who is very, very, very old.”

When McCain hosted “SNL” in 2002, he mocked singer Barbra Streisand’s political advocacy by performing a medley of her songs.

Obama appeared on “Saturday Night Live” briefly last season but canceled a return for its season opener in September, citing the devastation brought to parts of the country by Hurricane Ike.

Larry Birkhead, Dannielynn Move Out of Anna Nicole’s House

Friday 31 October 2008 @ 8:21 pm

Larry Birkhead is moving out of Anna Nicole Smith’s home 18 months after her death.

“There are a lot of memories here and the house really isn’t that child friendly,” he tells Entertainment Tonight. Birkhead is raising the couple’s two-year-old daughter, Dannielynn.

“We’ve been looking at houses and I’ve found something in an area that has a lot of kids,” he says. “I’m parenting under the microscope. I make good decisions, maybe not traditional decisions, but we’re not a traditional family.”

Birkhead will be showing off his parenting skills in a new reality show, to air on E! in 2009.

He says Tori Spelling (who stars on So noTORIous with husband Dean McDermott) convinced him to do the show, telling him: “Dean and I will support you. Why not? Your life is out there anyway,” he explains.

Birkhead figures it was only a matter of time before he ended up on TV.

“My life in the last couple of years has been a reality show,” Birkhead tells ET.

“There’s been so many things out there that are not true, and there are so many things that I’ve taken a lot of beatings for and I haven’t set the record straight; nobody knows the true reality of how I live and what I go through,” he adds.

The series will follow the single dad as he runs a business of Smith’s, home-schools his 18-year-old nephew Justin (who lives with Birkhead following his father’s death) and raises Dannielynn.

“I’m changing diapers one minute, going to a basketball court the next, going to a concert - here, there, you know, stores - so it’s tough,” Birkhead says.

But Dannielynn is unaware of any hardship.

“The thing I’m most proud of is she doesn’t know what’s going on; she’s just happy and worries about her toys and we just have the best time.

“The time is really about bouncing back and being happy and taking advantage of all the things we have, and not forgetting what we don’t have - but also just going forward,” he adds.

Bridget Marquardt: “Holly and Kendra Are Moving Out Right Now”

Friday 31 October 2008 @ 8:19 pm

Hugh Hefner’s exes Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson are definitely leaving the Playboy Mansion.

“Holly and Kendra are moving out right now,” Bridget Marquardt told Usmagazine.com Thursday at the Playboy fragrance launch in NYC. “I don’t know how much longer I’ll be there.

“I’ve been doing a travel channel show,” she says, “so to be honest, I’m not even there that much at the moment anyway.”

(Of Hef, she said, “We are talking about doing season six [of Girls Next Door]. We have a lot of fun ideas so keep watching!”)

Madison - who got cozy with Criss Angel Oct. 21 at CatHouse in Las Vegas, as Us Weekly reports in its latest issue - recently told Us she is setting up her new bachelorette pad.

“It’s a loft. It’s going to be super fun and the best bachelorette pad ever!” she said. “I’m really excited because I get a fireman pole. Hef never put one in the mansion.

“Nothing is done to it yet. It’s actually not habitable now,” she told Us of her new digs. “It’s still in the cardboard box phase, but we’re working on it and will hopefully be done with it by the end of the month.”
