The Cruises were among the first to welcome the Beckham clan to America, but for more than five months the two families have not been photographed together.
But any rift between Hollywood’s biggest celebrity families appears to be healed as the couples celebrated Thanksgiving eve.
David and Victoria Beckham and their three sons were pictured with Tom Cruise and his older children Connor and Isabella.
Tom’s wife Katie Holmes and their two-year-old daughter Suri were absent from the gathering.
But after meeting Tom in downtown New York the Beckhams left their sons with a babysitter while they went to watch Katie in her hit Broadway play All My Sons.
Along the way David gallantly stepped in to help up a female photographer who had fallen over while walking backwards to take the couple’s photo.
Victoria, stylishly dressed in a close-fitting pencil-skirted dress, waited patiently as her husband assisted the woman.

Thanksgiving is one of the biggest holidays in the American calendar, traditionally marked by a family celebration, so to be spending it together perhaps marks a resurgence of the close friendship the Beckhams once enjoyed with the Cruises.
After initially being pictured constantly together - be it shopping, eating out or publicly supporting each other’s work - the relationship between the two families apparently soured.
This was rumoured to be because the Beckhams had refused to consider joining the Scientology religion - a subject close to Tom’s heart.
But there were also reports that after months spent helping Katie develop an interest in fashion, Victoria became jealous when the former Dawson’s Creek actress was asked to appear on the front cover of Vogue magazine.

David Beckham the ogler strikes again!
The football star was spotted soaking up the view from his front row seats at an NBA game at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles yesterday.
While his favourite team the LA Lakers took on the Portland Trailblazers, it was the off-court action that really caught his attention.
He was spotted eyeing up the scantily-clad cheerleading team between quarters - and not for the first time.
In April, he was caught leering at a cheerleader at that same venue.
It was no coincidence that a week later, Victoria Beckham stepped in as chaperon, ensuring it was eyes front.

But free from the careful watch of his wife yesterday, it appears Beckham couldn’t resist a cheeky peek or two at the hotpant-wearing dance troupe.
It will perhaps come as cold comfort to Posh, who is bracing for David’s move to Italian side AC Milan.
Beckham has told reporters that he has his wife’s full support after it was revealed that his family will remain in America while he returns to Europe.

But magazine reports claim that Victoria does have some concerns about David being so far away in the glamorous Italian city.
The last time David was separated from his family for a long period - in 2004 when he was playing for Real Madrid - there were allegations of an affair with his then personal assistant, Rebecca Loos.

Victoria Beckham and her husband David escaped unscathed following a terrifying car crash in France on Friday. The couple was visiting their home in the village of Bargemon, close to the French Riviera, last week before the soccer star was due to fly to Beijing, China to take part in the Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday.
But on the way to Nice airport to catch his plane to China, the pair was involved in a horrific crash, which left their black BMW with a smashed windscreen and extensive damage along the passenger side. David Beckham reportedly smashed the car laterally into a wall - leaving his wife severely shaken.
Beckham was photographed embracing a tearful Victoria in the car and comforting her, before he raced to the departure lounge with her father Tony Adams. Beckham was forced to run to catch his flight, leaving his distraught partner with the wrecked car.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident.
