Keira Knightley has no problem appearing in the buff for her latest film. In fact, she says it’s becoming a habit.
“I always bare my breasts,” she said at the press conference to promote The Edge of Love Wednesday at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. “It’s not like it’s only in this film!”
The British actress, 23, is best known for the Pirates of the Caribbean films; last year she went au naturale in the period drama Atonement.
Referring to a scene in the wartime romance The Edge of Love with her onscreen husband Cillian Murphy, Knightley said: “It was very simple. It was a sex scene and I never like them when they’ve got bras on.”
So when the director asked her to remove her bra, “I said, ‘All right then.’”
But when it came to her singing scenes, the British actress needed much more persuasion. On hearing she had to sing live in front of the cast and 100 extras, she said, “I thought I was going to die. My knees actually started buckling.”
The film was written by Sharman Macdonald, Knightley’s mother, who says her actress daughter was the inspiration for writing the period romance that also stars Sienna Miller, 26, and Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters.)
“I wasn’t particularly pleased that Shar put singing into the script – in the first couple of takes I sounded like a apubescent boy,” says Knightley, who calls her mom Shar and instead of mother.
At the film’s premiere in Scotland on Wednesday, Knightley (in a cream Chanel jumpsuit) and Miller (in a Jasmine de Milo dress) walked the red carpet holding hands.
The two fashionable costars “are incredibly warm in the film and that’s the way they are in life,” says mom Macdonald. “They knew each other slightly before and then they just completely bonded on the film. I hope they will be friends for life!”

Maybe it's just gas, but for whatever reason, Keira Knightley and her boyfriend, Rupert Friend have the most pained looks on their faces, despite the fact that he clearly brought her roses for Valentine's Day. Oh wait...maybe those are "I'm sorry" roses. Yeah, those aren't exactly fun presents.
Now, I know that Keira is a fan of pursing her lips so that they are nice and full, so maybe she's just making pouty-face because she thinks it looks sexy. I don't know. But if I were a body language expert, I would hazard a guess that no one in this photo is getting laid anytime soon.

More photos of Keira Knightly and Rupert Friend are after the jump.

Here's the red carpet at the Elle Style Awards at The Westway in London and I can't tell if this is some unapologetic lighting or what, but Keira Knightley is looking gaunt as hell. Someone get a bounce on this woman! In the thumbnail below, Kate Hudson looks like the spitting image of her mother. I love her sassy smile and her bangs, even if I'm not a big fan of her inane romantic comedies. Her eclectic, bohemian style won her an Elle Style Icon and I have to say that I usually enjoy whatever she's wearing. According to Elle, she's "distinctive and kooky." Love it.
And in the pictures after the jump, you can seem more pictures of Keira, who seriously looks like a starving Goth kid. I really do think that at least some of it is weird lighting, but still, I'd check her neck for fang marks, just to be safe. She went home with the best actress prize, while her "Atonement" co-star, James McAvoy nabbed best actor.
Kylie Minogue took home the honor of Woman of the Year and I couldn't agree more.

12 more photos from the Elle Style Awards 2008 in London featuring Kylie Minogue, James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Kate Hudson, Stella McCartney, Will Young and Roisin Murphy are after the jump.
When Keira Knightley admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that with all of her naked posing in photo shoots for interviews with magazines, "I hope I don't become a nudist, but I'm definitely on my way!" But with all of the period pieces the actress is in, battling evil corsets and whatnot, that I'm starting to understand why she's becoming wary of clothing in general. I think she looks quite beautiful in these pictures at the L.A. premiere for her film, "Atonement," with her hair and make-up, but seriously, this woman is way too thin. I can see her sternum and I'm pretty sure that I shouldn't be able to. Vanessa Redgrave was also at the event, which you can see in pictures after the jump, looking naturally radiant and making me want to jam as many antioxidants into my body as possible so that I can age somewhat in the way that she has.

8 more photos from the LA premiere of "Atonement" featuring Rhona Mitra, James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, Saoirse Ronan and Vanessa Redgrave are after the jump.

Keira Knightley's new movie , the wartime drama "Atonement", is already garnering huge Oscar buzz. It nearly didn't get made because it uses the c-bomb in the script and a studio executive didn't feel like that was gonna fly in Wichita. "Atonement's director Joe Wright had to practically stage a sit-in to make sure it wasn't excised, as he felt it was integral to the vision of the project. That's how I feel about it. I know it's a dirty, dirty word - but sometimes...it sums up exactly how you feel about a person at that juncture. I'm not proud of it, but it is what it is. It's integral to the vision of my anger, let's say. C'mon, have you ever had someone steal your parking space? Or cut you off on the freeway? It's only in the sancitity of my Toyota Scion, I swear! I can her the ladies growling at me, so I'll move on. Anyway, several studios passed on the script but Focus Pictures got some stones and went with it. And now everyone's talking about it. Finally, theyre talking about Keira Knightley in regards to something other than her flat chest and yappy mouth.

“I think fame is a very strange thing. You learn to find ways around it, as in any job. You have to have a route to self-preservation,” the Atonement star told Interview magazine.
While fame took Lohan on a prima donna roller-coaster ride of drugs, booze, arrests and nudity before she entered rehab this summer, the attention that accompanies Hollywood stardom hasn’t gone to Knightley’s head. “My ambition hasn’t changed.”

On her maturity, the 22-year-old said that she never liked being a teenager. “I never felt comfortable being in a group of giggly girls … So I suppose I never really wanted to explore it, whereas I did want to be a woman.”
Unlike Lohan, whose career has stalled since her 2004 role in Mean Girls, Knightley’s tempered maturity has only paid off. “I think I’m in an incredibly fortunate position, because I actually get offered amazing roles and the opportunity to work with extraordinary people,” the Oscar-nominated star said in the mag’s new issue. “If you become an actor, then that’s what you want.”

Instead of acting out as a diva in front of the paparazzi and club-goers every night, Knightley harnesses it for the big screen. “I’m fascinated by tragedies or dramas. It’s the drama queen in me. I want to explore them, partly because I don’t want to explore them in my real life, I guess.”
But that doesn’t mean Knightley feels like celebrites have a responsibility to act a certain way. “I don’t believe in role models. I don’t believe that any person can be put up there as being better than any other person. Personally, I think I have the right to make as many mistakes as I like without having to feel guilty about a young girl going, ‘Wow, you’re making that mistake, so should I.’ People are cleverer than that.”
