Spies in LA saw the songbird coming out of a well-known ob/gyn’s office on North Crescent Boulevard, “clutching what looked like a sonogram and being greeted by her entourage with cheers. She was ebullient.” It was the same type of paper that Minnie Driver was holding when she found out she was pregnant at the same doctor’s office. Carey, who wed Nick Cannon this year in a quickie Bahamas ceremony, has made no bones about wanting a child. A rep said, “As far as I’m told it’s not true.”

NICK Cannon is in for a festive Christmas season. His new wife, Mariah Carey, told Redbook magazine that she likes to celebrate the holiday by stripping down with her gal pals. “We go in the hot tub in our Christmas bikinis, then roll in the fresh snow and jump back in the tub,” she gushed. Carey also confessed that her Yuletide swimwear consists of “a red bikini with a Santa hat.”

Mariah Carey is legendary for her diva ways.
And she reinforced them in spectacular fashion at last night’s World Music Awards.
The singer’s extraordinary demands included a £100,000 private jet transport to the ceremony in Monte Carlo and a £10,000-a-night penthouse suite at the exclusive Hotel de Paris for two nights.
Never one to travel light, she also asked for similar VIP treatment at the hotel for her 15-strong entourage of stylists and personal assistants.
And when she felt a little peckish, she decided that the five-star hotel just wasn’t quite up to standard.
Instead she had renowned Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse brought to her hotel to cook her a private dinner.
Seemingly impressed with the results, she then asked if he could stay and teach her how to cook the clam linguine for her new husband Nick Cannon.
Never mind that the 38-year-old was appearing for only 15 minutes on the night.
After collecting her Special Achievement award, she made a short speech before being escorted immediately home.
Organisers had told artists when they arrived at the event that the current financial crises around the world had left them slightly less well off this time around.
It is all in contrast to 27-year-old Beyonce Knowles who was afforded only a fraction of the backstage indulgences handed to Miss Carey - but delighted the crowd with a spectacular performance to open the ceremony.
They also managed to persuade all the artists to perform for free.
A source said: ‘It was thought that because of the economic situation at the moment, it might not send out the right message to pander to all these backstage demands.
‘Artists were warned that they would not be prepared to spend silly money.

‘Everyone was shocked that Beyonce didn’t really get anything particularly special, although Mariah did have a few requests that were a bit extravagant.’
At the beginning of the night Mariah chose to snub the red carpet.
On Saturday night Mariah,38, appeared on the X Factor where she sang her new single and performed her hit Hero with the finalists.
All the contestants performed a Mariah ballad - with the soul singer on hand to instruct them.
The star-struck hopefuls were mentored by the singer, much to their delight.
Mariah performed her latest single I Stay In Love before joining the X Factor finalists on stage in a special performance of her 1993 hit Hero.
The track is raising funds for the Help For Heroes campaign and looks set to be one of the biggest selling British records of all time.
Wearing a little black dress she wowed the show’s host Dermot O’Leary.
‘Does it look OK? I just put it on last minute backstage,’ she laughed.
She towered over Dermot joking: ‘I left my flats at home, I only have one pair.’
X Factor supremo Simon praised Mariah saying: ‘You’re such a star.’

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is determined to shut up all you people who laughed at her in “Glitter.”
The Grammy winner put away her lip gloss to play the battered wife of a state trooper in “Tennessee,” which won raves at the Tribeca Film Festival. Director Lee Daniels was so impressed with her grit that he’s cast her in “Push,” in which she plays a Harlem social worker ministering to an obese, HIV-positive woman impregnated twice by her father.
But Mariah isn’t getting mired in misery. As she gets ready to tour again, she’s also developing a movie musical based on her colossal-selling Christmas album.
It’s about a town outside a city - perhaps not unlike Mariah’s hometown of Huntington, L.I. - where a ruthless developer wants to turn it into one big mall.
“Mariah doesn’t want to let that happen,” says her producing partner Benny Medina. “Her character uses song and love to keep the Christmas spirit alive.”
Mariah says the script, which “High School Musical” writer Peter Barsocchini is working on, is still in the early stages. But she tells us, “Since I recorded the Christmas album, I’ve always wanted to make a movie to go with it, something that people could watch and hear and enjoy every year. I’m into it. I’m all about the holiday season.”
