On his latest album Lucky Old Sun, Kenny Chesney writes about the end of his four-month marriage to Renee Zellweger.

He tells Newsweek recovering from the split was “was horrible. It took a while. Years. It’s been since 2005.

“I was probably as emotionally and mentally exhausted as I’d ever been,” he goes on. “And that was due to a lot of things — having the foot on the gas pedal constantly, and my breakup with Renee Zellweger.”

So, he says, “I got in a plane and went down to the Virgin Islands. I was completely by myself.

“I didn’t want to be around anybody,” Chesney continues. “So the next thing you know, it’s me and a pen, and I sat down and wrote a lot of lines of this song, ‘Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be.’”

Asked if he was nervous writing about the Zellweger split, he tells Newsweek, “It’s the truth. It’s my life.

“I’ve been in a lot of states of mind in the last three years,” he says. “In that way, it’s a pretty honest record. I’ve let myself be more emotionally vulnerable in some of the lyrics. I think that was good therapy.”

He says he has “no idea” what the actress will think. “I don’t know. It’s unpredictable.”

Chesney tells Newsweek they still talk “every now and then. I don’t want to say this whole record is about her.”

Is he still heartbroken?

“Not at all,” says the singer, who adds that he is dating again. “I already wrote those songs. I’m on to something else.”

RENÉE Zellweger doesn’t have a problem dining alone, but doesn’t mind the company of a cute guy, either. An East Hamptons spy saw the star at The Palm Saturday night “nursing a glass of red wine, eating salmon and sautéed mushrooms and typing on her iPhone for hours.” The source said Zellweger “was reading a script when a tall handsome guy in his 30s walked up to her and started chatting. It brought a huge smile to her face.”

If the stork ever tries to fly into Renée Zellweger's window, she will very politely aim at it with her shotgun and pull the trigger. OK, maybe that's just my overly graphic way of saying that the actress doesn't really have any interest in having kids. Or is it? She is from Texas and Texans love their firearms.

"Motherhood has never been an ambition," she recently told London's The Times. She added, "I just want to be independent and be able to take care of myself. Anything else is just gravy." Ha! Like she remembers what gravy is used for.

Meanwhile, is that mysterious hand delivering her a Fed-Ex on the red carpet? There better not be a baby in there, or she'll be pissed. Although, it would be thin enough for her liking, I suspect.

Here's Renee Zellweger and George Clooney at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, South Carolina. They're on the last stop of the Leatherheads press tour. Thank christ. How much more press can they do for that movie? You're going to get two sets of people going to it - dudes into football who like sports movies, and Clooney ladies. The Clooney ladies will sort of intersect with the Zellweger romantic comedy ladies. Actually, they're the same group. I should make a chart.

Renee had a few the night before. You know she has to roll up and face Clooney looking like Clooney and want to just go back to bed. She must be so sick of looking at his perfection. I envision this conversation:

Clooney: Hey, good morning, R..
Zellweger: F*ck you, George.

Renée Zellweger's short do might have less to do with fashion and more to do with her trying to salvage what hair she has left on her head. The actress chatted with In Style about how her hair had been damaged after multiple chemical treatments. For film roles, Zellweger has gone from blonde to brown and back to blonde again and her tresses have paid the price.

"What I didn't know is the temporary stuff stains the inside of the shaft, so you can't get it out," Renée said. The actress added,"[It faded to] Ronald McDonald red. Then it faded to pumpkin. Then it was pink, then mango. Mango hair - now that's a look."

However, she's not complaining, mostly because she's amazed that she has any left, saying, "it's still attached to my head, by the grace of God." But if it had, all she'd need to do is give Tyra Banks a call. She's probably got some extra orange wigs from five cycles ago that she could lend out.
